A Shared Future: Technology and Business Expert Talks the Democratized Future of the Internet and What It Means for Mobility Innovators

A digital revolution is coming, Shelly Palmer predicts, and the direction it takes is up to you. 

“We are on the cusp of a financial revolution where democratized transactions get financed,” Palmer said during his talk at SAE International’s 2022 World Congress Experience (WCX). “Creators and users will be able to share in the power they create.”

Palmer spent time with attendees giving a crash course in quickly evolving trends including decentralized finance (DeFi), Web3, cryptocurrency, NFTs, and the blockchain-related technologies that are reshaping our world.

He emphasized that this is uncharted territory, and it’s a sink-or-swim environment where there are risks—but those who can understand how these currencies and digital records are decentralizing the world of finance have a chance to do something great. And what’s more, the technology that’s building the ‘metaverse’ where these technologies live can have an impact on not only the financial sector, but the idea of ownership, and how that plays into a mobility environment.

“You’re going to build tokens that represent value,” Palmer told attendees. “You’re in the greatest industry in the world—how to get from here to there—and you get to define what that means.”
