In this one-day course on Design Verification Plan and Report Overview and Application, participants will be introduced to important concepts, the basic theory behind the concepts, and discuss how these concepts can be applied to the client's design reliability activities. Participant involvement will be maximized to demonstrate and reinforce the concepts through reading assignments, group discussions, and exercises where students will begin a DVP&R on a client product.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between verification and validation concepts and activities
  • Explain the purpose of verification and validation activities
  • Identify role of verification and validation within the design development and review process
  • Describe the “V” model
  • Plan for verification and validation activities
  • Select the correct techniques for verification and final validation
  • Complete basic DVP&R templates
  • Describe the relationship between the DVP&R, the DFMEA and other review/analysis techniques

Who Should Attend

This course provides training to a manufacturer’s engineering, development, operations, quality and administrative personnel. These individuals are typically involved in the development and production of parts for direct use in the manufacture of automobiles, or other manufactured products. These individuals either are or will be part of a team responsible for planning and carrying out Validation activities to customer requirements and or Verification of product’s compliance with specifications.

Prerequisites

Participants should be able to review and interpret customer requirements and should be able to identify tests/computer analyses related to these requirements.

Curtis PawloskiCurt Pawloski is President/Senior Consultant for Integral Operations, Inc.  Since 1995, he has been consulting and training based on his expertise  in; project management, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process and quality improvement, problem solving, and quality system development and implementation. Mr. Pawloski has helped auto industry OEMs and numerous supplier organizations prepare or improve their quality systems, facilitated the writing of quality procedures and work instructions, and consulted on implementation of quality systems. His focus over the last two decades is on improving business processes and human performance through training, consulting and leveraging the use of the best tools possible. In addition, he was the leader of a team to develop a comprehensive project management training and certification system for Volkswagen's IT function. Mr. Pawloski has led hundreds of seminars and consulting sessions for the SAE covering the applications of GD&T and a wide array of Quality topics. He is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at Oakland Community College, Delta College, and Midlands Technical College.  He is a board member and past member of the year for the Saginaw Valley Section of the American Society for Quality. He has a B.S.ChE from the University of Michigan, a Graduate Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management/Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University, and an M.B.A. from Wayne State University. Certifications include American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer and ASME Certified Senior GD&T Professional.
