The development of a national standard to describe, test and regulate motor vehicle glazing follows a logical path which includes changes in transportation policy, technology and the market. The success in implementing the standard has come about because of a government/industry partnership to administer voluntary compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 205 (FMVSS 205).
