A DG/K-Based CAD/CAM System for Optimal Sculptured Surface Machining on Multi-Axis NC Machine 2006-01-0381
A novel DG/K-based method for sculptured surface generation on NC machine is briefly disclosed in the paper. The DG/K-based method is developed for the purposes of optimal sculptured surface machining (SSM) on multi-axis NC machine. SSM is widely used in automotive industry. It can be used as a mathematical foundation of an appropriate CAD/CAM system or being incorporated in an existing CAD/CAM system for sculptured surface machining. Aiming reduction of machining cost to the lowest possible range, all parameters of the machining operation are required being optimal at every instant of machining. The reported in the paper DG/K-based method yields computation of the optimal values of all the parameters of machining operation of a sculptured surface on multi-axis NC machine.
