This paper gives an overview of ways to assess the noise situation at airports and how action plans may be established in order to improve the noise climate.
In addition new developments are presented regarding impact assessment and interdependencies with other environmental aspects.
Although this paper is focussed on the situation in the European Union, the findings are applicable to airports worldwide.
