Air Pollution and Construction Equipment 700551

The diesel is considered the predominant engine used in construction equipment. Smoke regulations, which are in effect or pending, are discussed to point out the industry is subject to controls. An estimate of the amount of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and oxides of nitrogen emitted by earthmoving equipment is made to evaluate the air pollution which may be attributed to the industry. Substantial effort to reduce emissions is suggested.
