Though cab and vehicle designers must cooperate to develop a functional design, they must also take into consideration factors such as styling, safety, visibility, pressurization, and air conditioning needs.
A detailed analysis of sound attenuation in the operator's enclosure is presented. Use of shock mounts, floor mats, fiberglass, perforated hardboard, and spray-on sound deadener are suggested for effective attentuation of sound.
Two safety features to take into account are maximum visibility for the operator and roll-over protection in the cab.
With proper planning in cab development, the result will be a safe, quiet, pleasant atmosphere in which the operator can work.
